Bordering Houston, the city of Stafford has become a haven for businesses and people wishing to relocate to a smaller town. It's seven square miles contain 10 residential subdivisions and a large industrial/business district. Although the residential population (16,500) has more than doubled since 1980, the business population by far outweighs it. An estimated 60,000 people live in, work, and visit the city of Stafford each day. The Stafford Police Department, with its 37 sworn officers, has kept pace with the growing city and maintains a 4 minute response time. We hope that by making this web site available, we will be able to further increase our accessibility and service to the public.

The Stafford Police Department, located at 2602 South Main adjacent to the
City Hall, is comprised of 48 employees. The police chief, Bonny Krahn, is appointed
by the Mayor and city council. Assistant Chief serves as the second in command and
assumes the chief's duties when he is out of town. There are five
sergeants: one in charge of Criminal Investigations, one in charge of Special
Operations, and three in charge of patrol. The patrol division, with
37 sworn patrol officers, operates in three shifts. There are three corporals
assigned to work under the three patrol sergeants. The Stafford Police Department
provides two officers to enforce laws within the Stafford Municipal School District.
There is also one officer assigned to the municipal court.
